Cherry Blossom Engagement Session By Paola Nazati Photography
I grew up in Silver Spring, MD with a cherry tree in my front yard, and every spring its blossoms captivated me.
So I was ecstatic when Mercedes and Brad invited me to photograph their engagement session around DC's Tidal Basin with the cherry blossoms in peak bloom. Cherry blossom season is considered one of the greatest attractions in the DC area, it's truly spectacular. Thousands of people from all over the world come for a chance to witness peak bloom.
The throngs of visitors make the logistics of shooting during the blooming period quite tricky. You need the right timing and a couple such as Mercedes and Brad who were up for the challenge. We timed the session for a low traffic day at sunrise and conditions were perfect. Here are a few of my favorite images from that picturesque morning.
Forest Creature Dolls Photography by Paola Nazati Photography
In addition to photographing wedding and engagements, commercial lifestyle photography is also something I love to do. Getting together with small business entities and brainstorming ways to showcase their branding and products through images is a super fun creative process. Joti Marra is a dear friend of mine who started Forest Creature Dolls about a year ago. The attention to detail in each doll that she makes is exquisite. Check out her website if you haven't already, her site was designed by the very multi-talented Breigh Hammarlund.
Wedding at Race Street Pier, Philadelphia, PA by Paola Nazati Photography
I've been traveling a bunch for weddings ever since I relocated to Washington D.C this past year. I love it, my wanderlust has been awakened. Each new location presents exciting possibilities and challenges that drive my creative approach.
Sarah and Thomas married under the Benjamin Franklin Bridge at the Race Street Pier this past summer. Their wedding reception was held across the street at the Fringe Arts + Le Peg restaurant.
It was such an amazing and beautiful celebration. Thank you Sarah and Thomas for asking me to photograph.
Favorites From Paola Nazati Photography in 2014
The past couple of years have been filled with unexpected changes and new beginnings. I’ve moved five times, I had the amazing opportunity to travel a great deal, and even photographed a destination wedding in Jamaica.
All of these adventures and experiences have led me not exactly where I had imagined I would be, but in the end exactly where I needed to be: close to my family. In October I decided to follow my heart to Washington, D.C.. Having lived in Asheville for eight years, needless to say, it was a hard decision. I miss the beautiful mountains and my close friends and colleagues so much. But I am very happy to be close to my family again!
It brings me much excitement to announce that my photography services are now based in Washington, D.C.. But as always, I am happy, willing and able to travel anywhere. It would be my pleasure.
As this new year begins, I’m eager to start fresh by blogging, showing past and current work. As well as demonstrate some of the things that inspire me, in hopes that my clients, family, and friends can get a better feel for what moves me.
I am so very grateful for all of my amazing clients, family and friends. Thank you again for all the love and support. Cheers to a very bright and successful 2015!
Since I haven’t blogged in a couple of years I will be starting all of my upcoming posts without regard for sequential order. Be sure to stay tuned! Without further ado, here are some of my favorite images that I created in 2014.
Wedding at Bell's Cove by Paola Nazati Photography
A couple of weeks ago I posted Alyson and Jamie's Engagement session. Now I'm excited to share their beautiful wedding day that took place at Bell's Cove. The entire day was full of joy and excitement despite the intense heat wave that was going on. Alyson and Jamie's family and friends all pitched in such hard work to make this day perfect. The wedding cake and goodies where baked by the bride and assembled and decorated by Amanda Berry (Friend of the bride). All of the decor was designed and assembled by the mother of the bride Jodee Mitchell. Her vision for the bouquets and boutonnières were done by the Floral Department at the Inn on Biltmore by the wonderful Jill Rutherford and Lindsay Kerhes. The lovely surprise dove release at the end of the ceremony was done by Julia Gaunt of Asheville White Dove Release. It was such a loving group of people, I had so much fun!
Breigh's Bridal Session at Bell's Cove
Breigh's bridal session took place at Bell's Cove, a new event venue located in Barnardsville, NC. She and Lloyd were married here a couple of months later. The 220 acre property sits nestled amongst rolling hills bordering Pisgah National Forest. Its landscape includes open fields, wooded paths, a cozy cabin and even a spring-fed pond with a dock.
